Stronghold 3 out in April?

Rumors say that Stronghold 3 will be out in April. Don't know about that but I thought of showing you guys some of the features of the game.
So this game will have a day night cycle.(see screens)

Castles will no longer have the 45 degree limitation when constructing them, so basically you can do your castle whatever shape you want, you could probably even make it look like a heart...hmm that was weird skip that.

The game also has new buildings and great graphics. And while in SH1 and SH2 you were fairly limited to flat terrain construction, now you can place you keep anywhere.

New game modes and battle system are expected in the new title and more units with a rich campaign and multiplayer.

This post will be updated as soon as they are announced.

The Exiled Realm of Arborea (T.E.R.A. Online)

T.E.R.A. is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Bluehole Studios. The Exiled Realm of Arborea uses a dynamic battle system which incorporates third person camera view where the player targets its enemies with a cross-hair rather than selecting a target to automatically attack.

There are so far six confirmed playable races and eight confirmed classes. The six races are as follows: The 'Aman', a race reptilian humanoids, the 'Baraka', a giant, intelligent race, the Castanics, a demon-like race, the High Elves, the Humans, and the Popori, which are essentially a nation of various forest spirits. There are male and female counterparts for each of the races except for the Baraka, which are genderless. These are the 'damage-dealing' classes: the Archer, the Berserker, the Sorcerer, and the Slayer. The 'tanking' classes are the Warrior and the Lancer. The support classes are the Mystic and the Priest.

And as TERA begins, the Humans, High Elves, Amani, Castanics, Barakas, and Poporis have banded together to form the Valkyon Alliance. Together they'll fight a menace from beyond their world: the Argons, a metallic race from the Underworld which seek to destroy the world.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Review

Review Date: January 13 2011
Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment
Developer: Blizzard Entertainment
ESRB Rating: Teen
Genre: MMORPG

The evolution of Blizzard's blockbuster MMORPG has been a six-year spectacle that has been impossible to ignore. The remarkable strides World of Warcraft has taken over the course of 3 expansion packs have put an ever-growing chasm between it and its closest competition. The latest expansion for WoW is Cataclysm, and as well as adding the expected new high-level content, it reworks large portions of the original Azeroth.

Given that a subtle change can have a large impact on gameplay, the cumulative effect of years of patches on WoW is quite staggering. In late November version 4.0 of the game went live, and the dragon Deathwing broke out of his underground prison to bring devastation to much of old Azeroth. Along with it came graphical upgrades, improvements to the interface, a Talent system overhaul, and new race/class combinations. These changes often involve trade-offs. The new Talent system, for example, helps to balance the game, but forcing you to the top of one Talent tree before you can put points into a second tree gives players less flexibility in their builds. It goes without saying that these revisions won't sit well with everyone, but the overall result is a game that is more accessible and varied than ever.

New Races

If you're ready to roll a new toon, you can now play as a Goblin (Horde) or Worgen (Alliance). Each includes a new starting area dripping with the usual Blizzard charm. Worgen start in Gilneas City, and they could be seen as the werewolves of Azeroth, able to shift between human and Worgen form while out of combat. Goblins are Azeroth's masters of engineering and alchemy, responsible for a bizarre array of mechanical devices that the dot the landscape, as well as motorcycle and rocket mounts.

I spent some time with the fledgling Goblins leveling in Kezan, and it's definitely a slick addition to the world. The main story takes you through the final days of the island before it is destroyed by the Shattering. You manage to escape, but then find yourself seeking refuge on the Lost Isles after a shipwreck. While the quests still involve many of the expected killing and collecting tasks, they're better disguised than ever, and they also employ the same phasing and vehicle mechanics introduced in Wrath.

New High-Level Zones

Unlike previous expansions, which added ten levels to the cap, Cataclysm increases the cap only 5 levels, from 80 to 85. The journey to the new cap takes you through an interesting mixture of new areas which are scattered around Azeroth. Players are eased into these new areas with quests that include occasional game-engine cutscenes. Some of the highlights include Vashj'ir, a group of underwater zones where players scurry around on sea horses, Deepholm, the vast cavern where Deathwing was held prisoner, and Uldum, a desert zone with an Ancient Egyptian theme. There probably isn't quite as much here for high-level players as Wrath of the Lich King introduced, but coupled with the revision of parts of the old world it's the most ambitious expansion for the game so far.

Cataclysm offers considerably more content than you will need to reach the level cap. Of course, that doesn't prevent you playing through it if you so desire. As with previous expansions, equipment has essentially been "reset," meaning that green items from Cataclysm quests have better stats than most level 80 epics.

The use of "phasing," which changes aspects of the world based on quest progression, is even more extensive in the new zones than it was in Northrend. It adds some flare to the otherwise fairly routine process of questing, but it also makes grouping with other players on-the-fly a little more difficult, as you're often not at the same stage in the quest. This could be the reason for fewer of the group quests that were introduced with Burning Crusade. While it makes for better solo questing and more compelling storylines, it also tends to discourage grouping outside of Dungeons and Raids.

Dungeons and Raids

Cataclysm follows a familiar pattern we've seen in the past with WoW expansions. Newly introduced instances, particularly heroics, start out quite challenging, and gradually get easier as players accumulate better gear and get to know the boss fights. People with a lot of time to play soon need more to do, so content patches add increasingly difficult Dungeons and Raids until it's time for another full-blown expansion.

Currently, high-level players in Cataclysm have about 7 new Dungeons and 3 new Raids to keep them busy. Blizzard has also added level 85 heroic versions of two classic instances: Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep. As well, Baradin Hold is a PvP-unlocked Raid in Tol Barad, akin to the Vault of Archavon in Wintergrasp.

On average the new instances seem to be little longer than those in Wrath. Complicated boss fights are one of WoW's trademarks, and that tradition continues with renewed vigor in Cataclysm. Crowd control is once again central to many battles, but the changes to healing and aggro probably require the biggest adjustment. The relative amount of mana consumed per heal has been increased, making it necessary to conserve it for emergency situations rather than trying to keep the party at full health all the time. They've also made it harder for tanks to hold aggro, so the damage-focused players in a group need to pay more attention to threat.

New Battlegrounds

For players that have reached level 85, there are 2 new Battlegrounds in Cataclysm. The Battle of Gilneas is a 10 on 10 contest where players fight over 3 control points. Much like Arathi Basin, your team accumulates resources by holding one or more of these points, and the first team to reach 2000 resources wins.

Twin Peaks is another 10 vs. 10 Battleground but it uses capture-the-flag objectives akin to Warsong Gulch. With a river running through the middle it's a nice change of scenery, and they've thoughtfully put in two graveyards per side to reduce the graveyard camping that Warsong sometimes devolves into.

While these are very good Battlegrounds, I'm not sure we really needed two more 20-player maps that use game mechanics so similar to earlier Battlegrounds. There's a lot of potential for mid-size Battlegrounds that remains unexplored. Perhaps more significant is the addition of rated Battlegrounds, which allow pre-formed groups to compete in seasonal tournaments, much like the Arena system.

Tol Barad

Level 85 players also have the option to jump into Tol Barad, which is divided into a new Wintergrasp-like PvP zone and the Peninsula that is the main daily quest hub in the expansion. The PvP zone is an 80 vs. 80 match on a map with Baradin Hold at the center, surrounded by 3 control points which the attacking side must take to win. I haven't spent much time in Tol Barad yet, but there are clearly balance issues which need to be addressed. This is largely because it's considerably more difficult for the attackers to capture and hold 3 buildings than it is for the defenders to hold one. It seems to me that win conditions more like Arathi Basin or Battle of Gilneas would be one remedy for this, as would requiring the points to be captured in a certain order. Rest assured that Blizzard has acknowledged the problem and is planning to fix it in a patch.

Guild Levels and Archaeology

The guild system has seen a major upgrade in version 4.0 of WoW. Guilds now earn experience and gain levels much like characters do. Rewards for guild advancement apply to everyone in the guild, and include things such as XP bonuses and reduced repair costs. We've seen similar features in other games, and they tend to strengthen the bond players have with their guild.

Archaeology is a new secondary profession which everyone can train along with Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing. It involves visiting various dig sites scattered around Azeroth and Outland, then using the Survey ability you are given to find fragments which can be combined into artifacts. Common artifacts aren't worth much, but rare artifacts include more desirable items such as weapons, mounts, and pets. Although WoW's secondary professions have never been much more than a diversion, I don't know how many players will be up for the travel required by Archaeology.

The Bottom Line

With such an enormous and varied player base, Blizzard is faced with the impossible task of keeping everyone happy. I don't agree with every change they've made to the game, but it's hard to deny that the net result is a better game overall. Regardless of how you feel about the game's evolution, there's a lot to do in Cataclysm. The leveling experience is greatly improved for new players, and those at level 80 have several months worth of new PvE challenges to work through, depending on how efficient their guild is. PvP fans may not be quite as thrilled with the expansion. Although rated Battlegrounds are a nice addition, the two new BGs aren't all that inventive and Tol Barad will definitely need fine-tuning, if not a major revision. Minor grievances aside, Cataclysm is another truly outstanding entry in the MMORPG genre, and it's proof positive that World of Warcraft's reign isn't over yet.

Windows 7/Vista tips for old games and programs!

If you ever wanted to play older games on Windows 7 or Vista and after you install them the games or even programs don't work, here are some tips on how to make them work.

1. Right click on the main executable of the game/program, choose properties, and choose the compatibility tab.
There you will find "Run this Program in compatibility mode for:" and choose whatever suits you, for example Windows XP Sp2. Also choose run this program as administrator.

2. If you try to run a setup and it gives you errors, right click and choose Run program as administrator and it should work.

Compatibility issues work better on Windows 7 than on Vista but try and tweek the settings above mentioned and if you encounter some times when it won't work even if you set up as above, then it's probably because of the fact that the program is too old and these newer OS don't recognize them. Just try and tweek them and most of the times it does work.

If you run into other problems you can always contact me here under the followers tab via e-mail. Hope this helps whoever has these type of problems.

How to play Flash Games offline ? - Tips & Tweaks

How to play Flash Games offline ? - Tips & Tweaks: "There are thousands of Internet Flash games free. Unfortunately, we must always be connected to the Internet to take advantage of it. Here's how to get these games on your hard disk to play on any occasion without an Internet connection.

Step 1: Understand the principle

In a previous tip, we saw how to take advantage of Flash games in full screen. We will see now how to retrieve a Flash game on your PC to access it then offline that is without having to connect or launch a web browser. Technically, a game is a Flash animation file interactive format ' SWF. This file is downloaded with the Web page, and then executed by the browser as any animation. To enjoy offline (off) a game, it must begin retrieving files SWF games that interest you, then play this Flash animation directly from the desktop."

Step 2: Get the SWF file

To retrieve the SWF file of a game, several possibilities:
  • The first solution, a manual, is to go digging into your browser's cache after visiting the page of game, there is more than just one copy of the SWF file on your desktop for example. The disadvantage of this manipulation is that it's not always easy to identify in the "cache" of the file browser.
  • The second option is to use the site File2HD.com. This site allows you to break down a Web page to retrieve items that interest you. Here's how:
    • With your browser, go to the Web site containing the game you like (for example here)
    • Place the cursor on the address bar, select the entire URL and press [Ctrl] + [C] to copy the URL into the Windows clipboard.
    • Now go to the site www.file2hd.com
    • Place the cursor in the URL of the page and press [Ctrl] + [V] to paste the copied URL above.
    • Check the box "I have read and agree to the Terms of Services"
    • Check OBJECTS in the Filter
    • Click on Get Files
    • The site displays a list of files found objects on the page, among them the SWF file of the game. Click the right mouse button and select Save As from the context menu, and select a destination (the office for example).
  • A third option, is reserved for users of Firefox 3, is to use the Page Info:
    • With Firefox 3, go to the Web site containing the game you like (for example here)
    • Right-click on a blank area in that page and select View Page Info
    • Open the Media tab
    • Find the list in the SWF file, select it and click Save As and select a destination (the office for example).

You now have one or more games SWF files on your desktop (or any other location of your choice). We will see how to exploit them.

Dead Space 2 Reviewed on GT

Here is the video review of Dead Space 2! Pretty awesome!

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Here is the trailer for AC-Brotherhood that was released on all major platforms in November, but we still need to wait a little bit more for the PC version. Release date March 28.

Assassin's Creed Talks

Like I said yesterday, i will talk a little bit more about Assassin's Creed, I won't make a review, I will just talk as a fan and player of the game.

So the first Assassin's Creed installment was time lined during the Second Crusade around the year 1100. But there is also a character called Desmond, who lives in present times. He is captured in a facility and is forced to sync himself in a machine called Animus and he can live his ancestor's memories, which is our assassin. The assassin is called Altair(with an accent over the "i") and he is a Master Assassin, but he also is a snob, ignorant in other words a jerk :P. Him and other two assassins go on a mission to retrieve the Holy Grail or Apple of Eden. Being the ignorant and full of himself kind of guy, he doesn't care about his Master's orders and jumps to kill the Templar Leader, of course he misses his kill and gets one of the other assassins killed and the other one badly injured, but he manages to flee.
Returning defeated but manages to steal the Grail, his Master begins to ask questions and Altair lies about what actually happened. But the surviving assassin returns and tells the truth, as a consequence Altair is sentenced to death. His master having the power of the Grail actually made Altair think that he was killed, but actually didn't and was stripped of his ranks. So your true journey starts from this point and being just a normal assassin again, he needs to prove that he is worthy to become a Master Assassin...umm again :P
That's about all that I'll say, except that you will find a great story, voice acting and twists that you couldn't imagine. And an ending like no other both for Altair and Desmond.

The second installment Assassin's Creed 2. Well if you like the first one, you will love the second one! More hours of game play, not as repetitive as the first and of course a great story!
AC2 is placed during the Renaissance period(around 1400). Your assassin is called Ezio Auditore da Firenze(Ezio Auditore of Florence) who isn't born an assassin like Altair. You actually spend the time when he was a teenager and driven by revenge he learns the ways of the Assassin. Ezio is loved by women and hated by the Templars led by Borgia. Ezio has no idea what he has actually gotten himself into but is about to find out as soon as he realizes that he has to play the most important part in saving his people, so as you progress you will find that he changes from his vengeful self into a savior of Italy. Desmond manages to escape from Obstergo (the company that kept him captive) and starts to show assassin behavior from living his ancestors memories. On the other hand Ezio becomes friends with one of the greatest minds of all times, Leonardo da Vinci who will become his personal inventor. Customize your armor, build your own village and become a leader and if you liked the ending of the first one...you will love the ending of Assassin's Creed 2.

Having a PC platform I have yet to play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, so i will complete this post as soon as I have it.

Mass Effect 3 Teaser

Since my first post was about Mass Effect 2 I thought I should say that Mass Effect 3 will be released at the end of the year and it looks promising since we will finally get to see the Earth for the first time in the game.
Here is the the trailer

Game of the Year 2010

Well, it was a huge debate like personally, I have never seen before, between Bioware's Mass Effect 2(PC, XBox360) and Rockstar's Red Dead Redeption (PS3, Xbox360). Well I usually follow everything that comes up on the bigger websites such as gametrailers.com or gamespot.com and most of the times the reviews are quite different on many aspects(generally different opinions on the facts that create a game review). While GameTrailers chose Mass Effect 2 as GOTY(Game of the year) GameSpot chose Red Dead Redemption. Now, owning only a PC platform I will just stick to PC gaming on this Blog, so I will give you a point of view on Mass Effect 2.
Mass Effect 2 created by Bioware and published by EA is a 3rd Person Action RPG(Role Playing Game) that starts right after the first title. Your name is Commander Shepard and your goal is to save humanity from the "Reapers"(some kind of a Mechanical-Organic hybrid race that threatens the survival of the Human Race).
Now into the story and there might be some Spoilers but I will try to keep it short of spoilers. So you begin the game in the "Normandy SR-1"(your ship from the first title) and suddenly a strange ship warps in and starts attacking the vessel. Some crew members die, most survive though and manage to flee in the escape pods. Shepard stays behind and runs to save Joker(The Pilot who suffers from a bone disease so he can't move on his own). After managing to drag Joker to the Escape Pod, something blows up and the Commander only manages to press the launch button and saves Joker, but he gets dragged into Space and see Shepard fall into the atmosphere of a planet.
Cerberus a Pro-Human Organization spends a ton of credits to bring Shepard back to life and after a cool cut scene you enter the Character Customization screen. Here you can create your character and after you do that, you can choose from 6 different classes:

  • Soldier : Pure assault class(like warrior in most RPG's)
  • Infiltrator : Tech class good against long range attack
  • Vanguard : Uses Biotic powers and are good at short range with the shotgun
  • Sentinel : Uses both Tech and Biotic powers
  • Adept : Takes full advantage of Biotic powers, don't rely that much on guns
  • Engineer : Strongest Tech class that can disable even the heaviest armors
The coolest thing is that if you actually played Mass Effect 1 and still have your saves, you can actually import your character from there, and you won't need to go through all this creation part.
The game play is quite unique for an RPG because of the gun system which sometimes may have a few bugs, but you won't really notice them, the tactical positions work great and you need to master these moves if you want to end the game in one piece, also you can you can tell your companions what powers or weapons to use against enemies. You can customize your armor, upgrade your weapons and even your ship. The voice acting is as good as the first one, if not even better, the graphics are great all in all the whole game is great if gaming websites gave the GOTY award to this title. So put on your N7 helmet and armor and start playing this Epic Work of Art created by Bioware.
